DESIRE by micahgoulart DESIRE by micahgoulart
Sofia at a Starbucks store in St. Augustine, Florida. She was looking at cookies and I snuck around and got a picture of her, holding the camera at my hip since I wanted to shoot from her perspective.

I'm glad she didn't notice me, since whenever she sees the camera now, she runs around screaming, trying to hide. :D

That was a lucky shot considering you said that she would run away from the camera. And its even better that you got it from your hip and had her in the frame. Her face is perfect, like it was staged, but it wasn't.
Good choice making it B/W, it makes it look better in my opinion. Also, good job on getting her in focus and not the bar, my camera can't do that :/. It also seems that the cinnamon rolls or whatever those are are reflecting light back, that's...weird. I want a cookie now (A.D.D. moment, sorry)

Amazing shot.

"This is unbelievable!" That was my first thought when I saw this. The perspective is my favorite part of this photo. You let us into the girl's world, showing some huge cookies in the foreground. This photo makes me want to be a kid again!

I love the lighting. The cookies are so bright, they probably shine like treasures in her eyes! The blue or green tint/black & white contrast is great, I would say nearly perfect. Some would perhaps say that the light is too bright in certain places, but I like the contrasts. It gives life to the photo.

I think you've placed the girl very well in the square. My eyes was guided to the girl's head first, then over to the bulb and down to the cookies. Which makes this photo genius, because the point strikes the viewer instantly.

Given that this is a critique, I should point out some negatives. It's only a couple of things - some minor details; the background. The man in the back could distract the eye a little bit away from the subject, also the person straight behind the girl. You could easily crop the photo, creating 100% focus on the girl and the cookies. Though doing so might make the photo look too perfect? It's up to the viewer to judge that I think.

The technique is great, the photo quality is also flawless. I love the grain in b&w photos. High iso numbers doesn't bother me much, in cases like this. This looks like around iso 800, depending on what camera you shot with of course...

All in all, this photo is superb. A candidate for a DD, no doubt about it. Well done!
