a vine growing around old measuring tape in my aunt's backyard in central Brazil. i found this very interesting, definitely uncommon.
it was mid-day so i just pulled out the trusty Canon A40 and took this macro without a tripod. i loved the colors and the yellow/green combination definitely gave it a Brazilian touch.
the "measured growth" concept was also unique and this is one of my favorite photos because of it.

Gorgeous detail in this image... I like the fact that both the measuring tape and the plant are so solid and brightly coloured. It adds to the juxtaposition of the two and makes the title have more of an impact. Love those vivid colours! I can see why this would be a personal fave of yours... it's one of mine too!
Wow this is good but I would have taking it a little farther away. But that is me.

I saw this and immediately thought of sentient machines slowly assimilating their enemy, like a venus fly trap digesting a fly...thoughts I don't have very often.
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
